5 Tips To Prevent Mental Burnout
Being a corporate girl or managing your own business can be mentally draining and stressful. If you don’t take measures to take care of yourself you’re bound to get mental burnout and in some instances people even get depressed. For you to perform at your best you need to be healthy and stay on top of your game at all times.
Below are some ideas of the different ways you can prevent mental burnout:
Have a mentor
Do not underestimate the importance of having someone more senior (in business) that you look up to and can guide you along the way. It will save you so much time consulting with someone that has done what you’re tying to do before and can shield you from making the same mistakes they did. During tough times, they’ll be able to provide you with the support you need too.
We are not machines and need to take time off sometimes to rest, in fact even machines get serviced to remain functional. Make time for the things you love, take a bath with essential oils, get a manicure, treat yourself to a fancy lunch, whatever it is that will help you relax, unwind in order to be more productive.
Have a work schedule & stick to it
Work hard, play hard. Having a schedule will help you to maximise on work when it is time to do so and also forces you to relax. As a corporate girl, I’m personally against bringing work home and don’t connect my work email to my phone because I don’t want to be working 24/7. When I’m at work I will give it my all but when home, that is time for me to invest in my business, rest and relax.
Take care of your health
You can make all the money in the world and it will be of no use if you’re not here to enjoy it. I know what it is like to be so busy that you forget to have your lunch or end up grabbing fast food, honestly, our health should be our first priority. If you don’t have time to cook, get ‘healthy’ take-out, there are so many delivery options lately. Find time to exercise at least twice a week, get enough sleep, drink water. I’m sure you already know what to do.
The right tribe
Girl! This is the most important. Everyone needs supportive like-minded people around them. No-one is an island and we all need someone we can bounce off ideas with, someone that can challenge us and tell us when we are in the wrong and someone that will cheer us on and provide us with the support we need to keep going. Find those 2 or 3 people and when you do, make sure you do the same for them.
These have certainly worked for me. I’ve learnt that looking out for myself is not selfish but in order for me to be successful I have to take care of me. What are some of the ways you try and prevent mental burnout?
